2 PM – 9H Majorki
The Whitlock Shootout is a Memorial event designed in honor Burt & Mary Whitlock, avid golfers at Cross Creek Golf Club. This nine hole event is an entertaining elimination event played on the Majorki course. Each year the event participation grows. Groups of ten golfers start on the first tee. At the completion of each hole, the player with the worse score (i.e. highest score) is eliminated. In the event of a tie for worse score, a sudden death putt off, chip off or other golf challenge is used to eliminate one golfer. The completion continues in this manner until the one winning golfer is left after the ninth hole. The competition is initially split based upon sex and age into different flights. For example, one or two ladies’ flights (red tees) of ten golfers may compete. A flight of ten senior men (gold tees) can participate. As well as other men’s flights of ten golfers each from the blue and/or white tees. After each of these competitions are completed, the winners of each flight have their own shootout to determine the “overall” shootout winner. A great event for participants and observers. Yes observers are encouraged to follow the fun to route on or heckle your favorite player.
