Allen Fleming started this company in 1955 in his hometown of Decatur, Indiana when he purchased a single axle dump truck and a crawler dozer.  Within a year a backhoe and a grading tractor were purchased to expand the types of projects that could be performed.  Allen Fleming incorporated as a sub-chapter S corporation in 1972 and named the firm Fleming Excavating Inc.
