Travis Walters

Welcome to the 2023 golf season! It has been great seeing so many familiar faces back in the club house the last couple weeks and we look forward to seeing many more in the weeks ahead. It has been a slow start, hopefully we will see the weather breaking soon and golf season off to a . The team is looking forward to another wonderful year of golf and would like to communicate some things that have been done over the last year along with some new things going on for 2023.
On February 1st Brandon Razo left Cross Creek for an opportunity in Springfield IL. We wish Brandon the best in his new adventure and thank him for all he has done here at Cross Creek over the last few years. He left the course in great shape and in good hands with Jeff Sheets while we were looking for his replacement. Special thanks to Jeff and his team for stepping up and getting things ready for our spring start up. On Thursday March 16th we welcomed Travis Walters to Cross Creek Golf Club. Travis comes to us from Kentucky and will be our Superintendent for the course. Please help us welcome Travis to the team as he navigates his way thru everything Cross Creek.
Spring is always an exciting time, particularly in a seasonal climate like Indiana. Spring brings hope for better scores, more enjoyment and fun on the course, friendships renewed after a few months away due to winter weather and new friendships made as a new season begins.
Golfers often ask, “What changes can we expect this year? What will be new at the course?”
Since the spring of 2021, Cross Creek GC has provided many upgrades to the course that have improved your experience. I think it’s important for our customers, who have tremendous loyalty, to know what has been going on so they can appreciate and respect their home golf course.
In 2021/2022, we have purchased a new rough mower, reel grinder, workman’s cart, closed out our golf cart lease and replaced water pumps for our irrigation system. We have also made improvements to our greens and fairways, repaired / improved some of our bunkers, extended / repaired a number of our cart paths, made drainage improvements to some of our fairways, removed diseased / dead trees (~60 trees taken down), painted the shelters, created a designated tee area for the practice range and gotten new four station, tee markers for all 27 holes.
Cross Creek GC has spent significant dollars on various improvements across the past couple of seasons. Even for someone at the course daily, the amount of money needed to support maintaining and improving our course is eye opening information. We thought it was important to share these things with you.
Since the crazy 2020 season when COVID-19 dominated our lives, we have really tried to keep our pricing structure as stable as possible. However, like all of you, we are seeing nearly all of our expenses escalate over the past few months. Everything from golf balls, tees, golf attire and food in the club house to chemicals, fertilizers, and fuel on the course and cart barn.
Unfortunately you will see prices increase at Cross Creek in 2023. We will do our best to keep these minimal. As always, we pledge to give you the same high-quality golf course and experience you have grown accustomed to. Thanks for your patronage, loyal support and most of all- friendship in golf!
Thanks in advance for playing golf at Cross Creek. We are really looking forward to another great season of golf!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at Cross Creek
